About

Hello! I am Dr. Daniel Davis, a local psychologist in Palmer, Alaska. I received my doctorate in counseling psychology in 2017 from Alaska Pacific University. My doctoral internship was under a private psychologist who specialized in forensic psychology. Under his supervision I managed a residential treatment program within a medium security prison.  In addition, I grew in proficiency by administering, scoring, and constructing psychological and neuropsychological evaluations with adults. The majority of the clients I interacted with had struggled with addiction but they also wrestled with severe mental illness and most had lived through some extreme events of trauma. Most of my clients have lived through life altering traumatic events.  They are now learning what it is like to truly be alive for the first time.

In addition to my doctoral studies, my master’s degree was also acquired at APU.  I completed a 600 hour, innovative internship program developed to help those experiencing their first psychotic break find fulfilling lives without using medications as their first (only) resort.  The foundation of the program was that it combined peers who had real life experience of mental illness and were in active recovery with healthcare professionals who assisted in providing evidenced-based models of interventions.

Finally, my undergraduate internship was at a small private practice which placed a great focus upon integrating equine therapy into couples and individual counseling. I have gained experience in expansive and cutting edge models of therapy constructed to provide the most effective help to those who are struggling.

Thank you for taking a moment to read about me. I hope to meet you and learn more about you and your story.
